Hi! I’m Cheryl, a pediatric occupational therapist (OT) and more recently – an app developer. For the past two decades, I have provided school-based and private occupational therapy services to children in Maryland and DC. I have worked extensively with children with learning disabilities, developmental delays, fine motor delays, autism, Down syndrome and ADHD/ADD.
I received my Bachelors in Occupational Therapy from the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1995, and my Masters in Technology in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2001.
I love observing how a child learns and applying that to creating adaptive ways for them to acquire a skill. It gives me invaluable insight into how to structure an activity so that the student can be successful. My ability to see things from a different perspective and to find out-of-the-box solutions is what led me to designing curriculum and apps.
Looking ahead, my goal is to continue doing what I love: providing occupational therapy and developing teaching materials that support, empower and challenge students.
